Peripheral
Introduction:
IONM
monitoring has been shown to be useful with a variety of 'peripheral'
surgeries which place neural tissues at risk.
Indications:
For Orthopedics surgeries,
those involving correction of fractures of the pelvis, acetabulum and hip Surgeries
may be associated with a high complication
rates
Iatrogenic sciatic sensory nerve injury may occur and may be prevented
by constant knee flexion during the case and by intraoperative
SSEP and
H-wave monitoring
Iatrogenic motor nerve injury may also occur and may be prevent by
intraoperative S-EMG, T-EMG, H-wave and
TceMEP monitoring
Modalities Used:
SSEP, H & F wave, S-EMG, T_EMG, TceMEP, CMAP
